Nani stated that the State topped in Covid-19 testing in the country. A total of 1,65,069 tests were conducted and out of those 1,930 tested positive and they underwent treatment in isolation wards. As of now 881 had been cured and went back to their homes.

After death of a 60-year-old woman with Covid-19 in Chilakalapalli village of Balijipeta mandal, tests were conducted for all 13 family members. All tested negative. "We have undertaken medical tests for fishermen who came back from Gujarat. Out of 682, only one tested positive and he was admitted to hospital. Apart from this fisherman, two more positive cases were admitted to MIMS and providing treatment. We are providing all amenities at hospital and distributing personnel protection equipment to the medical and health staff here," he said.

Kannababu said the aim was to protect agriculture sector during this Corona pandemic season. "We instructed officials concerned to support the farmers in all aspects. Besides supply of fertilisers and chemicals for kharif, the government is purchasing maize and paddy which were produced during Rabi. All the eligible farmers would get Rs 13,500 towards Raithu Bharosa on May 15," he said.

District Collector M Hari Jawaharlal and other officials participated in the programme.
