NHRC directs National Monitoring Committee to inquire the petitions on Polavaram project
The National Human Rights Commission has directed the National Monitoring Committee (NMC) to review all complaints filed against the resettlement and compensation filed in connection with the construction of the Polavaram Project.
The National Human Rights Commission has directed the National Monitoring Committee (NMC) to review all complaints filed against the resettlement and compensation filed in connection with the construction of the Polavaram Project. The NHRC has issued this directive following a recent Pentapati Pullarao complaint that human rights violations have been made as part of the construction of the project.
The NHRC has suggested the Andhra Pradesh govt would consider the recommendations of the team visited the project.
On the other hand, the high court issued stay on the Polavaram Hydal power works last week. It seems, there is no stopping of hurdles for the Polavaram. It remains to be seen how the govt would go forward on the Polavaram.
