Amaravati: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan said that he would bring the Amaravati capital issue to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah if required.

The people representing 14 different castes have given lands for capital construction, he pointed out. Pawan visited the capital villages on Friday.

He interacted with local farmers and agriculture workers. The residents of Kuragallu and Inavolu expressed concern over the proposal to shift the capital to Prakasam district. On the occasion, he said that he had never opposed the capital being set up in Amaravati.

Reacting on the comments made by Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Botcha Satyanarayana, he said that he had only opposed the forceful land acquisition from farmers.

Jana Sena would not remain a mute spectator if the capital is relocated, he said adding that he would fight for the protection of interests of farmers. He said that his party would oppose the proposal to relocate the capital. If there was any corruption in the capital construction works, the government should take action on persons concerned by conducting an inquiry, he said.

Pawan Kalyan also said that Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was behaving as YSR Congress leader but not Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He pointed out that the landowners of Amaravati villages gave their lands for capital construction purpose but not to the TDP. Jagan should recognise the facts and make an announcement on capital city location, he said.

"Jana Sena is not against decentralised development. But the government wants to make a decision as per the wishes of YSR Congress only but it will not be accepted," the Jana Sena chief said.

He recalled that Jagan Mohan Reddy had earlier agreed to the decision made to set up the State capital in Amaravati. He demanded that the Chief Minister make an announcement immediately on the capital to clear the doubts among the farmers.Indeed, the Jana Sena wanted to keep silent for some time on the functioning of the new government, but the situation forced him to talk on the issue, he said.

Pawan said that the government was facing resistance from the people. He expressed concern over the State government not taking measures to resolve people's issues. With the government's attitude on the capital, agriculture workers were spending sleepless nights, he pointed out. Senior leader of Jana Sena Party Nadendla Manohar, MLA R Prasad and several leaders of the party were present.
