Visakhapatnam: The Indian Ports Association (IPA) organised a Road Show to explain the advantages of the Port Community System "PCS1X', a cloud-based single user-friendly interface platform to improve the ease of doing business and maritime trade to export-import trade operators.

Partnering with Visakhapatnam Port Trust and Portall Infosystems Private Limited, the Road Show was meant to create awareness about the 'Port Community System' (PCS), launched last year, linking all major ports.

The IPA representatives at the event said that all the trading bodies across maritime sector will be able come on board as the single platform connects all the stakeholders and aligns ICEGATE of the customs so that traders can do their day-to-day activities hassle-free. It was attended by shipping agents, terminal operators and customs officials. Explaining the merits of single platform that connects all the stakeholders and also aligns the ICEGATE of Customs, Chief Information Officer of IPA A K Chakravarthy said that VPT was chosen as the first port for the Road Show. He said through the avenue, users will come to know the merits and demerits of PCS 1X and also share feedback so that it will help the IPA to improve the facility further.

Deputy Chairman of VPT P L Haranadh said the PCS was upgraded to 'PCS 1X' and commissioned in all major ports. "It will help in improved visibility and reduction in time and cost along with documentation work. The digital solution also aids in improving the payment facility and e-delivery in maritime trade", he said.
