Supreme Court gives nod for local body elections in AP
In Short
The Supreme Court clears the way for Andhra Pradesh local body elections, directing authorities to use the revised electoral roll if the SIR process is complete, or the existing voter list otherwise.

Supreme Court of India
The Supreme Court has cleared the way for local body elections in Andhra Pradesh.
The State Election Commission told the court it was ready to issue the election notification within the six-week period set by the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
The Supreme Court directed that, if the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process is complete by the time the notification is issued, the elections must be held using the revised electoral roll. If the process is not complete, the existing voter list must be used.
The directions set out which electoral roll should apply, depending on the status of the SIR process when the notification is issued.
