The former minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, the main opposition leader in Andhra Pradesh legislative council said that they were against the establishment of chemical industries in the interest of the people of Konaseema. Speaking to media in Vijayawada, he found fault with YSRCP leaders who had earlier opposed the formation of the Divis chemical factory and giving permission now. The establishment of these chemical industries will pollute the seawater and cause loss of livelihood to the fishermen.

He expressed concern that the salinity of the lands would cause immense damage to the farmers. More than 300 hatcheries are also said to be trapped in pollution and all small traders are completely damaged. Yanamala expressed concern that not only would their revenues decline, but government revenue would also fall.

Yanamala alleged the Fishing Harbour proposal was a total fraud with the seawater was polluted and there was no actual fishing. They also strongly opposed the establishment of bulk drug industry. He said 51 per cent stake in Kakinada SEZ had already been bought for Rs 2,511 crore. Yanamala alleged that the Jagan Binamis were occupying villages in the Konaseema region by setting up bulk drug industries and trying to establish their industrial estate by occupying the coastal area. "We strongly condemn such anti-public activities, " he added.

Yanamala demanded that the government immediately withdraw its efforts to set up a chemical industry warned that the Jagan government would be responsible for the consequences.
