Visakhapatnam: With Government ENT Hospital registering 7 Covid-19 positive cases, the outsourcing staff demanded the hospital management to allow them for a 14-day quarantine. Since the management did not respond to their demands, they staged a protest on the hospital premises on Monday. Alleging that there is no proper prevention care at the ENT hospital, the staff staged a

protest highlighting that they have been discharging Covid-19 duties since March-end without any hassle. "But with Covid positive patients being registered in the hospital, we appealed to the hospital superintendent to allow us to be quarantined for 14 days for safety reasons. We did not receive any positive response so far from the management but insisting us to discharge the duty," one of the protestors said.

Over 100 outsourcing staff are working in various wings at the ENT Hospital and close to seven positive cases were registered in the hospital from the past one week. The outsourcing staff demanded District Collector V Vinay Chand to intervene and take necessary steps to pay attention to their health.

They recalled that a section of departments in King George Hospital remained shut for days as some of the staff tested positive for virus. But the outsourcing staff at Government ENT Hospital rue that no such measure is in place at the campus.
