Visakhapatnam: Webinars, demonstrations and virtual classes mark the sixth International Day of Yoga celebrations in the city on Sunday.

Celebrating the day, East Coast Railway organised a programme at Waltair Railway Indoor Sports Enclave, involving a small group of participants. While a number of enthusiasts performed yoga asanas in their residences, a few gathered at the enclave for the purpose. It was also organised at sub-divisional headquarters of the division.

Meanwhile, Waltair Division DRM Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, ADRM (Infra) Akshay Saxena, ADRM (operations) P Ramachandra Rao, some branch officers performed various asanas of yoga at DRM's residence. The DRM advised the staff to adopt yoga to improve physical and mental health.

E-Classroom

At Andhra University, a new e-classroom was inaugurated by its Vice-Chancellor P V G D Prasad Reddy at the Department of Yoga and Consciousness, Yoga Village on the occasion. The VC said that efforts were on to improve the infrastructure of the varsity and make it more convenient for women.

Webinar

Marking the day, Visakha Government Degree and PG College for Women organised a webinar, involving NSS and NCC and physical education wings. The institution's Principal S Sobha Rani underlined the need to create awareness among students on yoga and its benefits.

Also, founder-president of Global Aid B Pragnanand made a video of how yoga changed his life. He said that practicing yoga and consuming nutritious food go a long way in improving the quality of life.
