Bank Strike September 28-30: SBI Advisory, Services Available And What Customers Should Know
In Short
SBI has issued an advisory ahead of the nationwide bank strike from September 28 to 30, asking customers to complete branch-related work in advance.

State Bank of India
The State Bank of India (SBI) has sent an advisory to its customers prior to a nationwide bank strike on 28th, 29th, and 30th September 2026.
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has called the strike. SBI has called on its customers to settle essential business transactions at the branch and availed the digital and alternative banking channels for routine transactions before the strike.
The bank is making efforts to ensure that the most important services continue during the strike period, although this may be impacted depending on the number of employees that go on strike.
Bank Strike Dates And Possible Impact
The nationwide strike is scheduled for September 28 to 30. With September 26 and 27 falling on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, customers may experience limited access to regular branch services over five consecutive days.
SBI has therefore advised customers who require in-person banking services or need to submit physical documents to plan their transactions in advance.
The UFBU had also held a nationwide strike earlier in September and has announced further protest action, including a continuous strike beginning October 26.
Services Expected To Remain Available
According to SBI's advisory, several alternative banking channels are expected to remain operational during the strike.
Customers can continue using:
- - ATMs for cash withdrawals and other available services
- - Automated Deposit and Withdrawal Machines (ADWMs) for eligible transactions
- - Customer Service Points (CSPs) for select banking facilities
- - Internet banking for routine transactions
- - Mobile banking services
- - SBI YONO
- - UPI for payments and fund transfers
These channels can help customers carry out routine banking activities without visiting a physical branch.
Branch-Dependent Services May Face Delays
Services requiring direct assistance from bank employees could be affected during the strike, depending on the level of participation at individual branches.
Customers dealing with cheque-related work, physical documentation or other branch-dependent processes may face delays or temporary disruption.
SBI has consequently urged customers to complete essential branch work before September 28 wherever possible.
The advisory is intended to help customers to avoid various inconvenience during the three-day strike. SBI has recommended using digital and alternative banking channels for routine transactions while completing urgent branch-related work beforehand.
Customers who do not require in-person services can continue to rely on digital banking, ATMs, CSPs and other available channels during the strike period.
