Tata Power eyes 2.8 GW data centre opportunities
Hyderabad: Tata Power has built a diversified opportunity pipeline of over 2.8 gigawatts (GW) across renewable energy, transmission and distribution segments, driven by rising electricity demand from India's rapidly expanding data centre ecosystem.
The pipeline comprises approximately 430 megawatts (MW) of upcoming demand under its distribution network, 1,236 MW of transmission-linked opportunities and 1,150 MW of green energy capacity under active engagement.
The company currently has 29 active workstreams involving 18 leading domestic and global data centre operators, as demand from artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing and digital platforms continues to accelerate.
Tata Power is expanding its presence beyond conventional electricity supply to offer integrated infrastructure solutions, including powered land, grid connectivity, renewable energy, energy storage, cooling systems and utility infrastructure for hyperscale and AI-ready data centres.
To support growing electricity requirements in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), the company is upgrading its 110 kV and 220 kV transmission networks, enhancing capacity and strengthening network redundancy to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
