Mersal, Sarkar, Bigil…you name it and the movie is a hit. While Vijay is riding high on the success of these movies, he is now waiting with bated breath just like his fans to see how his next movie Master will be received by the audience. He has expressed his confidence in the director Lokesh Kanagaraj whose previous outing Kaithi starring Karthi was a huge hit.
We all know that like Salman Khan in Bollywood who chooses Eid for all his movie releases, Vijay too follows the festive sentiment. He loves to release his movies around Diwali. Among movies which released around Diwali featuring Thalapathy Vijay was Sarkar.
The movie directed by AR Murugadoss was made on a massive budget. Sarkar starred Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Keerthy Suresh, Papri Ghosh and Elyssa Erhardt besides Vijay. Sarkar was about an NRI wo comes home all the way to cast his vote only to find that a proxy has already used his voting rights.
How he fights the corrupt election system in India to win back his one vote and make a difference in the election of a leader forms crux of the story.
This movie was released around Diwali and raked in a whopping Rs 260 crores at the box office. Sarkar rewrote box office records and also became one of the best movies of Thalapathy Vijay. The movie was released in November 2018.
Now, we hear that the makers of Vijay's Master whose release date was pushed from April 9 due to the corona lockdown are considering Diwali for releasing the movie. It appears Vijay will go by the Diwali sentiment for Lokesh Kanagaraj's Master. Will the magic work? We we will have to wait and watch.
Master stars Vijay Sethupathi as the baddie. Malavika Mohanan plays the female lead. The actress recently shared a picture from the audio release function of Master which shows music composer Anirudh Ravichander and Vijay Sethupathi sitting by her side and watching Thalapathy Vijay's speech at the audio release function while she is busy posting for a picture.
