Qazi Touqeer praises Arijit Singh, says singer has ‘No Corruption, Insecurity or Jealousy’

Mumbai: Singer Qazi Touqeer showered praise on renowned playback singer Arijit Singh, calling him a “pure soul” with “no corruption, insecurity or jealousy” in his heart. The singer, who shared screen space with Arijit during the 2005 reality show Fame Gurukul, opened up about their long-standing friendship through a heartfelt social media video.

Qazi shared a reel capturing moments from his recent visit to Arijit’s hometown Jiaganj in West Bengal. The video traced their journey from teenage contestants on the reality show to their enduring friendship in 2026.

In the clip, Qazi recalled their early days in Mumbai alongside actor Shahid Kapoor and said that despite the passing years, both he and Arijit remain “teenagers at heart.”

Speaking warmly about Arijit, Qazi said the singer possessed unmatched humility and passion for music. He described him as “real” and “a genius,” while also expressing gratitude towards the people of Murshidabad and Jiaganj for the love and hospitality shown during his visit.

Qazi also praised Arijit’s family and staff, calling them “beautiful people.” He revealed that the singer has established a cricket academy for children in Jiaganj, reflecting his commitment towards nurturing young talent.

Recalling a cricket session with Arijit, Qazi said the singer continued bowling even after getting hit by the ball. He noted that Arijit displayed a “never-say-die attitude” and did not let the injury stop him from enjoying the game.

The singer further shared that Arijit remained immersed in music work late into the night, spending hours practising and editing music after the cricket session.

Calling him a “champion,” Qazi said Arijit was strong both mentally and emotionally. He also hinted at a future collaboration with the celebrated singer, saying the two were planning to do “something different and fun together.”
