Hyderabad: Three professors from Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering and Technology (GRIET), Hyderabad, have been included in the World’s Top 2% Scientists list compiled by Stanford University, USA, in collaboration with Elsevier.
The researchers recognised in the list are Dr Swadesh Kumar Singh, Professor and Dean (Research & Development), Department of Mechanical Engineering; Dr Ram Subbiah, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering; and Dr K. Swaraja, Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
Dr Swadesh Kumar Singh and Dr Ram Subbiah have been included in the list for the fourth consecutive year. Their recognition covers research contributions in their respective fields.
The Stanford–Elsevier database uses bibliometric indicators to assess research impact across a range of scientific disciplines. The indicators include citations, h-index and other measures related to research output and influence. The database provides separate measures of researchers’ career-long impact as well as their research performance during a particular year.
The recognition provides an opportunity to highlight the research work being carried out by faculty members in engineering and related areas. For students and research scholars, such academic recognition also illustrates the role of research output, publications and scholarly engagement in building an academic profile.
Commenting on the recognition, GVK Rangaraju, Vice-President, GRIET, said the inclusion of the three faculty members reflected their research contributions and acknowledged the continued work of the institute’s researchers.
The recognition of the faculty members comes across areas including mechanical engineering and electronics and communication engineering, reflecting research activity across different engineering disciplines at the institution.
