Vox Populi: Farmers Express Hope as Rayalaseema Prepares to Overcome Development Drought
In Short
Farmers across Pulivendula, Valmikipuram, Banaganapalli, and Markapuram welcome the ₹1 lakh crore Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub to enhance crop value, irrigation, and export access.

VOX POPULI
Will add significant value to our produce
Our place is well-known for banana cultivation. We move our produce to other states, including Jammu & Kashmir, and even export to Arab countries. The proposed Rs 1 lakh crore horticulture hub will add significant value to our produce and provide better access to markets, which will benefit farmers. It will also enable them to turn bananas into value-added and processed products.
- Jayarami Reddy, Pulivendula
It will change the fortunes of people
The mega horticulture hub is sure to transform Rayalaseema region into a ‘Ratanala Seema’. The initiative will go a long way in changing the fortunes of people, who face inadequate rainfall and are heavily dependent on other sources of water. The government’s initiatives in this regard will be a major boon to horticulture farmers.
- Damodar Naidu, Valmikipuram
Farmers are very happy
Farmers are very happy as they have been receiving Handri-Neeva water, which has helped their crops grow well. The focus on promoting horticulture crops in the region will further boost farmers’ incomes, particularly with more irrigation facilities planned under the initiative.
- Sivaprasad, Banaganapalli
Farmers can shift from traditional crops
Farmers have been happy these days as they are getting good yields from their crops. The proposed horticulture hub will encourage farmers to shift from traditional crops to horticulture and benefit immensely from better market facilities and other initiatives. We are looking forward to see farmers reap the benefits of the hub.
