Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray has denied he has ever met or knew the late celebrity manager in the FIR filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the Disha Salian murder case on Wednesday.

Thackeray described the repeated association of his name with the case as an alleged attempt at character assassination and claimed that a smear campaign had been carried out against him by vested interests.

Aaditya Thackeray Denies Knowing Disha Salian

In a post on X, Thackeray said he wanted the focus to remain on facts and denied having any personal connection with Salian.

He claimed his name has been continually attached to the case without any evidence. Thackeray also charged some people with being politically and personally interested in the matter.

He said media debates and what he described as "media trials" would not alter the facts and urged investigators to conduct the fresh probe without what he called political distractions.

Thackeray further said attempts to use the case politically would not deter him from pursuing what he described as the truth.

CBI Begins Fresh Probe Into Disha Salian Death

The CBI registered an FIR after the Bombay High Court ordered a fresh investigation into Salian's death.

The FIR was based on a complaint and statement given by her father, Satish Salian, who had sought an investigation into the alleged involvement of several people, including politicians and police officials.

However, being named in material forming the basis of an FIR does not by itself establish that a person is an accused or has committed an offence. The FIR does not name anyone as an accused, in accordance with the Bombay High Court's directions.

The court had directed that no individual should be treated as an accused unless the investigating officer finds sufficient grounds to raise reasonable suspicion against them.

FIR Includes Allegations Of Rape, Murder And Cover-Up

According to the report, the CBI will investigate allegations including gang rape, murder, disappearance of evidence and alleged attempts by public servants to create incorrect records or disregard legal directions to protect offenders.

The allegations are part of the investigation and have not been established by a court.

Salian died after falling from the 12th floor of a building in Mumbai's Malad area at around 2:25 am on June 9, 2020. She had briefly worked with actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Earlier Investigations Found No Foul Play

After Salian's death, Malwani police lodged an accidental death case and then decided that it was a case of suicide and found no evidence of any foul play.

Also, a Special Investigation Team set up by the Maharashtra government in December 2023 did not trace any irregularities.

Later, his daughter's case of sexual assault and murder was brought before the Bombay High Court by another advocate, Satish Salian. According to sources, his lawyer said she died as part of a supposed plot by 'influential people.'

Now the fresh CBI investigation will be conducted with the directions of the High Court, and the allegations and evidence will be scrutinized.

Sanjay Raut Also Criticises CBI FIR

Thackeray's comments were issued just a few hours after Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut questioned the FIR and charged that it was being used as a means to attack the Thackeray family.

Raut wondered how the names were being brought out in public when the High Court had cleared the way for investigations without taking anyone as an accused in the beginning.

The allegations made by Raut and Thackeray remain their stated positions, while the CBI investigation is ongoing.

Always love to raise the unraised matter. In a world of worries, I am always ready to come over my comfort zone and taking the step ahead of spreading awareness.
