Improper to engage in speculation: Fadnavis on CBI FIR in Disha Salian death case

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said the CBI will investigate the Disha Salian death case, and that it is improper to engage in any kind of speculation in this matter.
Talking to reporters here after a meeting of the state cabinet, Fadnavis said he had not yet seen the FIR.
He said the court had directed that the matter be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and the agency subsequently registered an FIR.
"We should now see what the CBI investigates. It is not appropriate for us to engage in speculation," he said.
The CBI registered the FIR in connection with the death of Salian, former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, naming no accused in compliance with the high court's directives on a petition filed by her father Satish Salian.
On September 2, the HC ordered a CBI probe into Salian's death while pulling up the Mumbai Police for failing to register an FIR for six years, observing that its investigation raises more questions than answers.
Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 12th floor of the Malad building. A week later, on June 14, 2020, actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Bandra apartment, triggering a widespread public uproar and a subsequent CBI probe into his death.
In his statement, Salian's father named senior politicians and Bollywood actors and several policemen who he believed should be investigated in his daughter's case.
