Amaravati: Chief Minister and TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu has directed NDA leaders and workers to strive for victory in all Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTCs) in the elections scheduled for Thursday.

Addressing a teleconference with leaders and workers of the alliance parties from Amaravati on Wednesday, Chandrababu said the results of the recent urban local body elections had demonstrated that people would continue to support those who stood by them and worked for their welfare. Congratulating alliance leaders and cadres for their efforts, he said the NDA had achieved a 94 per cent success rate in the municipal and corporation elections.

He described the results as an endorsement of the NDA coalition government’s commitment to welfare, development and good governance, and said the victory had also increased its responsibility towards the people.

The public had recognised the government’s efforts and its commitment to delivering on its promises, he said, urging the alliance ranks to work with the same determination in the Parishad elections.

Chandrababu said the alliance had lost some seats because of rebel candidates from its own constituent parties and minor local-level coordination problems.

Expressing regret over these setbacks, he said the coalition had secured a sweeping victory across regions of the State. He reiterated that those who could not get opportunities to contest in the local elections would be accommodated through nominated posts.

Stating that “good governance and good politics” were the core principles of the alliance government, the Chief Minister said the administration was delivering welfare programmes while simultaneously pursuing development despite inheriting a state economy that was nearly bankrupt.

The government was also filling vacancies in various departments, including teacher recruitment through the DSC, and implementing a job calendar, he said.

He asserted that the coalition government remained connected to the people and was working in tune with their expectations. The urban election results, he said, had shown that people recognised its efforts and wanted the government to deliver even better governance. Chandrababu called upon alliance leaders and workers to carry this public confidence into the ZPTC and MPTC elections and secure victories across the State.
