Amaravati: The state government has sanctioned Rs 300 crore for the repair, renovation and development of roads and buildings (R&B) roads in six districts in preparation for the Godavari Pushkaralu-2027.

R&B minister B C Janardhan Reddy said the finance department had given immediate approval for the funds following the directions of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The works are aimed at providing safe, smooth and improved transportation facilities to the millions of devotees expected to attend the prestigious religious event.

The minister said 78 roads covering nearly 431 km would be developed in East Godavari, West Godavari, Kakinada, Dr B R Ambedkar Konaseema, Polavaram and Eluru districts.

Of the total allocation, Rs 185.75 crore has been earmarked for 41 state highway (SH) projects covering about 275 km. Another Rs 114.25 crore will be spent on 37 key major district roads (MDRs) extending over nearly 155 km.The government has accorded priority to restoring badly damaged roads and modernising key routes in and around the Godavari region. The works will be taken up on a priority basis to ensure better connectivity to important pilgrimage and bathing locations during the Pushkarams.

Janardhan Reddy said the government’s objective was to ensure that devotees arriving from across the country do not face traffic congestion or travel difficulties. The Rs. 300-crore investment would significantly improve the condition and appearance of R&B roads across the Godavari region, he added.

The minister said the road development programme reflected the coalition government’s commitment to providing devotees with safe, comfortable and hassle-free transportation during Godavari Pushkarams-2027.
