YSRCP seeks all-party meet before local poll notification

YSRCP MLC Lella Appi Reddy
Amaravati: The YSRCP asked the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission (SEC) to convene an all-party meeting before issuing the notification for the forthcoming local body elections, seeking uniform clarity on procedures and safeguards for candidates, voters and political parties.
In a letter to State Election Commissioner, YSRCP MLC Lella Appi Reddy raised concerns over delays in issuing caste and community certificates and No-Dues/NOC certificates, reportedly due to a statewide server failure. He sought an impartial inquiry into the role of senior GSWS officials and immediate directions to district authorities to ensure timely issuance of the certificates.
The YSRCP also sought a statewide review of ward delimitation and correction of discrepancies before the process is finalised. It requested deployment of Central Armed Police Forces, citing apprehensions over interference, intimidation and alleged misuse of official machinery.
For municipal elections, Appi Reddy sought preparation of ward-wise electoral rolls only after completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and publication of final rolls, subject to applicable judicial directions.
The proposed all-party meeting, he said, should clarify reservation and rotation of seats and offices, election schedule and phasing, nominations and scrutiny, election of mayors and chairpersons, voting arrangements, Model Code enforcement, neutrality of officials, polling and counting security, and time-bound grievance redressal.
