Puttaparthi: District SP S Satish Kumar urged two-wheeler riders to wear quality helmets during an awareness event in Kothacheruvu. Highlighting a 30 percent drop—or 174 fewer road accidents—since January 2026, he noted that two-wheelers previously drove 75 percent of fatal crashes.

The SP stressed that a Rs 750 ISI-marked helmet is invaluable compared to a Rs 1,000 fine. Highlighting strict ‘drunk and drive’ enforcement resulting in 42 remands, he emphasized that public discipline, the ‘Trishul’ initiative, and inter-departmental coordination are essential to preventing tragedies and saving lives across the district.
