121st Coorg Open and Handicap Golf Championship 2026
Madikeri : The 121st Coorg Open and Handicap Golf Championship 2026, organised by Belur Club, was held at the Belur Golf Course recently attracting 84 golfers from different parts of Karnataka.
The two-day tournament featured competitions across several categories, with players competing in both open and handicap formats. The championship provided an opportunity for golf enthusiasts to showcase their skills and compete against experienced players.
In the Open category of the Coorg Open and Handicap Golf Championship, H.L. Sanjay of Madikeri emerged as the winner, while R. Srinivas of Chikkamagaluru secured the second position. In the Handicap category, M.A. Sreekanth of Somwarpet finished first, followed by Daivik Sanjay of Madikeri.
The Stableford Open category saw Appanna of Virajpet claim the top position, with N.S. Anil finishing runner-up. In the Stableford Handicap category, Nandan K. of Mysuru secured first place, while fellow Mysuru player Shashikumar finished second.
The Doubles category was won by the Chikkamagaluru-Madikeri combination of R. Srinivas and C.T. Mandanna. The pair of Shashikumar and Daivik Sanjay finished runners-up.
In the senior category, Sanjay Sikka emerged victorious, while R. Srinivas took the second position. The women’s category was won by Mrinalini of Madikeri, with Anuradha of Bengaluru securing the runner-up position.
Belur Club president Anand Basappa said the club has been organising the golf tournament every year at Belur Bane and has continued to provide an opportunity for golf enthusiasts to participate in competitive events.
He said the annual championship has helped bring together golfers from different regions and encouraged greater participation in the sport.
A prize distribution ceremony was held at the club premises following the tournament. Belur Club president Anand Basappa and secretary Pavan Muthappa presented prizes to the winners and runners-up.
Mercara Downs Golf Club president Muthu Kariappa, Belur Club office-bearers A.M. Vishwanath, B.J. Shamanth, S.K. Hemanth, K.C. Ravikumar, B.L. Girish and Ravi Pratap, along with Golf Captain K.M. Bopanna and Nandini Basappa, were present during the prize distribution ceremony.
The organisers congratulated all the winners and participants and expressed their intention to continue conducting the annual event, which has become an important sporting fixture for golf enthusiasts in the region.
