Bengaluru: Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah has lambasted the State government for not stepping in to put an end to "coercive tactics" being adopted by private schools to collect fee from parents.

Launching a tirade against the government, Siddaramaiah said, "Confused decisions of Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and education department have left students, their parents and private education institutions in no man's land. The CM and Education Minister Suresh Kumar should interfere and resolve the issue at the earliest. They are directly responsible for the conflict between parents & private education institutions."

He alleged that there is no government's control over private educational institutions.

"Schools are forcing parents to pay complete fees and threatening to stop online classes if it is not paid. Schools are charging even extra curricular fees over and above tuition fees. This is an additional burden on parents.

But the government is silent on the issue," Siddaramaiah said.

He said that the BJP-led government in the State is hand in glove with the private institutions and a series of meetings over the reopening of schools by the government has created confusion among parents.
