Bengaluru: Bengaluru-based cueist Shaik Najeeb Ahmed, 30, won the inaugural Snooker 900 India Qualifier held from September 15 to 18, defeating Aarav Sancheti in the final.
The victory has earned Ahmed an opportunity to compete at the Snooker 900 championship at Crucible Reading in the UK from November 16 to 18. The four-day Bengaluru qualifier featured 32 players from across India.
The tournament, organised in association with Snooker 900 UK and Pluto TV, used the fast-paced 15-minute frame format with a 20-second shot clock. Ahmed will receive support from Heyball Academy during his UK campaign.
Championship Director Pranit Ramchandani said the event aimed to provide Indian players with international-level competitive exposure. Ahmed said adapting to the faster format was a valuable experience and thanked his coach for the guidance.
