Bengaluru: The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has taken up repairs of damaged footpaths on 12th Main Road in Indiranagar after a video highlighting their poor condition, posted by a Canadian citizen, went viral.

The Canadian national, Freisen, had posted a video showing the poor condition of the footpaths on 12th Main Road in Indiranagar. He said such footpaths would not be acceptable in any country and pointed out that Bengaluru is one of the country’s leading technology hubs, with several start-ups and venture capital firms operating from the city.

Following the video, GBA staff repaired most of the damaged portions shown by Freisen. The authority also publicly shared a video showing the work carried out. “12th Main Road, Indiranagar, is now being repaired. Thank you to the Domlur team and Bengaluru Central City Corporation for responding quickly,” the GBA said in a post.

Freisen had also highlighted several obstacles caused by the damaged footpath in his video. Describing one portion as resembling a crater caused by an asteroid impact, he pointed out that people had been using it as a temporary garbage dumping spot. He also described the poor condition of the road as a result of administrative failure.

In response, the GBA shared a video showing the condition of the footpath before and after the repairs. Freisen subsequently posted another video appreciating the work undertaken by the GBA. However, he said the repairs were temporary and would remain in place only until the GBA takes up the complete redevelopment of 12th Main Road in early 2027.
