A man from Karnataka’s Udupi district was allegedly murdered in Sharjah, UAE, in July, with his remains later discovered inside a car. His body had been dismembered and placed in two bags, according to his family.
The deceased has been identified as Alwin Prakash Kunder, who had been working at Sharjah Airport for around 14 years. His wife, Tina Kunder, and their teenage son are currently untraceable, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the case.
The circumstances of the killing, the identity of the suspects and the motive remain under investigation by authorities in Sharjah.
Family Raised Alarm After Prakash Went Missing
Prakash was living in the UAE with his wife and their Class 10-aged son. Tina, who is also from Udupi, worked as a schoolteacher.
According to Prakash’s brother, Anil Prashanth Kunder, he attempted to contact Prakash around July 20. Although Prakash did not answer the call, he sent a text message saying that he was fine.
The message reportedly raised concerns because Prakash usually communicated with his family through voice messages.
When repeated attempts to contact him failed, Anil contacted Prakash’s classmate Manohar in Sharjah and asked him to check on him.
Manohar reportedly visited the accommodation provided to Prakash by his employer. A security guard told him that Prakash had travelled to India. The company’s HR department also initially gave the family similar information.
Anil, however, informed the company that his brother had not returned to India and requested that his whereabouts be verified.
A subsequent passport check reportedly indicated that Prakash was still in Sharjah, following which a missing-person complaint was filed.
Body Found Inside Car
During the search for Prakash, his body was discovered inside a car parked along a route leading towards Oman.
His brother said the remains had been cut into nine pieces and packed into two bags. The remains were later identified as those of Prakash.
Sharjah authorities have not publicly disclosed the identities of any suspects or established a motive for the killing.
Wife And Son Remain Untraceable
Prakash’s wife Tina and their teenage son have also reportedly been untraceable since his death.
Some reports have suggested that they may have left Sharjah and possibly travelled to India. However, their present whereabouts have not been confirmed.
There have also been reports raising questions about Tina’s possible involvement in the murder. However, there is no confirmed information establishing her role, and the allegation remains unverified.
Prakash’s family has reportedly said it was unaware of any dispute between the couple.
Udupi Family Seeks Help
Following the discovery of Prakash’s body, his brother met the Udupi Superintendent of Police and submitted a representation seeking assistance in the matter.
The family is now awaiting the completion of legal procedures in the UAE before Prakash’s body can be brought back to India.
They have also sought further information from Sharjah authorities about the circumstances of the murder, the discovery of the remains and the whereabouts of Prakash’s wife and son.
Udupi police are awaiting official communication from the UAE authorities as the investigation continues.
