Shivalinge Gowda joins INDI alliance march demanding Gyanesh’s resignation

Bengaluru/New Delhi: Excise Minister and Hassan district in-charge minister K M Shivalinge Gowda stated that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar might reduce the scale of the treason he has committed if he becomes an approver against the Modi government. He also said Gyanesh Kumar should accept responsibility for election irregularities and resign in an honourable manner.
Shivalinge Gowda took part in Delhi on 12 October in the protest march organised by the INDI alliance that proceeded up to the Supreme Court to press for the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner over alleged election irregularities.
Speaking to the media, he explained that the Karnataka contingent had undertaken the journey from the state to the capital that day. Under the leadership of Congress state president B K Hariprasad and Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, the state’s MLAs, ministers and office-bearers had together laid siege to Delhi.
“All public representatives had arrived because the march was being held to save democracy and to protect the firm foundation of democracy,” he said and observed that voting stands supreme in a democracy.
“In a land that possesses such sovereignty, the voting rights of citizens are being taken away. The present BJP government has descended to this bad practice. It has misused the Election Commission. It has drawn even the head of the body that lays the foundation of democracy into its net. The BJP government has turned Gyanesh Kumar into its puppet,” he said. “A large outcry for the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar, who is murdering democracy, is rising not only from Karnataka but from across the entire country. If the central government possesses self-respect, it should demand Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. It should correct the mistakes that are occurring at present and become the instrument of democracy’s glory. No one ought to practise such impure politics,” Shivalinge Gowda added.
He asked how many days the democratic system can be suppressed by declaring bandhs. “People’s minds should not be stirred. Once people’s minds are disturbed, no one can succeed in this democracy. It has already become known to the people that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has held power through illegal elections. The injustice committed by Gyanesh Kumar after joining hands with the BJP has struck deep into people’s minds,” he claimed.
“Gyanesh Kumar, who is carrying out the murder of democracy, should not remain Chief Election Commissioner even for a single moment. He should resign from his post at once and preserve his honour,” he demanded.
