According to the organisers, The annual festival will celebrate India's rich classical dance heritage through performances by artistes representing different dance traditions, besides recognising the contributions of senior gurus and practitioners.
A highlight of the programme will be the recognition and felicitation of Guru Mahankali Ramchandra Murthy, a senior Kuchipudi guru from a traditional Kuchipudi family, for his contributions to the art form. Charles Ma, a Bharatanatyam practitioner from Bengaluru, will also be honoured.
The evening will feature a Kuchipudi solo performance by Aiswariya K.R., a disciple of Deepa Narayanan Sashindran. An Odissi performance by Abhaya Lakshmi will showcase the grace and expressive movements of the eastern Indian classical dance form. The programme will also include Kapisutra, presented by the Kuchipudi Art Academy, Chennai.
The festival aims to provide a platform for classical dance traditions while acknowledging the dedication of senior gurus and encouraging emerging artistes to pursue excellence in their chosen forms.
The event is curated by Deepa Narayanan Sashindran, a Kuchipudi exponent and Life Trustee of the Kuchipudi Parampara Foundation, Bengaluru.
Founded by Sashindran, the non-profit trust is dedicated to promoting Kuchipudi through systematic dance training and choreography. It offers training programmes in Bengaluru and internationally, with the objective of nurturing accomplished artistes and sustaining the traditional values of the dance form.
Through Natya Parampara Utsav, the foundation seeks to strengthen the connection between established gurus, practising artistes and the next generation of performers while creating greater awareness of India's classical dance heritage. (eom)
