Bengaluru: A female undertrial prisoner was caught attempting to smuggle ₹11,500 in cash into Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Bengaluru. Jail personnel detained her during a mandatory security check at the main entrance after she returned from a court hearing. The cash was seized.

Jail regulations prohibit inmates from bringing cash into the facility. However, vigilant female staff discovered the concealed money during the inspection. Authorities suspect the amount may have been intended for unauthorised financial transactions among prisoners.

Jail officials filed a formal complaint at the Electronic City police station, following which a case was registered against the woman. Investigators are probing the source of the money and identifying anyone who may have assisted in the attempted smuggling. The investigation is ongoing.
