Donate blood, save lives, says CM Joseph Vijay

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Thursday called for concerted efforts to create a healthy society which embraces blood donation. Highlighting the vital role of voluntary blood donation in safeguarding human lives, on the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day today, Vijay called for building a resilient society.
Extending his warm greetings to blood donors across the country on the occasion, he hailed them as the “true life-saving ambassadors of the society” and commended their selfless commitment to humanity.
“Every drop of blood we donate not only saves a human life but also protects the future hope of a family. Blood donors’ selfless service and noble humanity are always admirable,” he said on ‘X’.
Stressing the critical necessity of blood supplies in emergency healthcare, the chief minister noted that voluntary donations remain indispensable during major surgeries, trauma cases, and medical accidents. He urged citizens to actively participate in blood donation drives to ensure healthcare institutions maintain adequate inventory for critical patients.
Calling upon the public - particularly the youth - to take a pledge on this occasion, Vijay appealed for widespread community awareness regarding voluntary blood donation. “Let us resolve on this day to spread the importance of voluntary blood donation among the people and create a healthy, vigilant society aware of blood donation. Let’s donate blood, Let’s save lives” he said.
State health administrative authorities across Tamil Nadu are organising special voluntary donation camps and public awareness campaigns on Thursday in coordination with government hospitals, non-governmental organisations, and educational institutions.
