Chittoor: District Election Officer and Collector Sumit Kumar has instructed municipal and revenue officials to execute their duties with utmost responsibility to ensure that the upcoming municipal corporation elections are conducted smoothly, peacefully, and strictly without procedural lapses.
Collector Sumit Kumar carried out a surprise inspection of the Chittoor Municipal Corporation office on Saturday to review ground-level election arrangements. During his visit, he inspected the Returning Officer’s chamber where candidate nomination filings were actively underway, following which he convened a high-level review meeting with administrative officers.
Addressing the officials, the Collector stressed that election machinery must function with heightened vigilance to guarantee a peaceful atmosphere throughout the filing and polling phases. He mandated that no scope be left for administrative or procedural errors during the scrutiny and receipt of nomination documents.
For administrative efficiency, nomination centers have been established at 15 Swarna Ward offices servicing all 60 divisions under the Chittoor Municipal Corporation limits. The Collector clarified that candidates contesting for the Mayor post must submit their nomination papers directly to the Returning Officer situated at the main Chittoor Municipal Corporation office.
Emphasizing strict compliance with election guidelines, Collector Sumit Kumar warned against negligence and directed returning officers to maintain full transparency. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Narasimha Prasad, Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Pulla Reddy, and other key election staff were present during the inspection and review session.
