Guntur: District collector and District Election Officer CM Sai Kanth Varma announced that ZPTC and MPTC elections in Kakumanu, Pedanandipadu and Phirangipuram mandals will be held as scheduled on Thursday. He said that an earlier announcement had been made regarding the postponement of polling by one day due to transportation difficulties caused by Cyclone Murusu. However, polling in all three mandals will now be conducted on Thursday, as scheduled.

Addressing a special media conference at the Collector’s office on Wednesday, he requested the public and representatives of political parties to take note of the revised clarification and extend their cooperation. He appealed to voters to exercise their valuable right to vote. He further stated that elections would be conducted in 13 mandals across the district on Thursday. A total of 13 ZPTC and 200 MPTC seats are scheduled for election. Of the 200 MPTC seats, seven have been unanimously elected, and polling will be held for the remaining 193 seats. He said that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure that the elections were conducted peacefully, transparently and smoothly across the district.
