Awareness drive, eco-brick making workshop held
The members of Junior Jaycee wing of JCI Banjara, Hyderabad, Zone-XII India organised an awareness drive and an eco-brick making workshop for the locals of Gouri Shankar Colony Park, Banjara Hills.

The programme was attended by Musharraf Ali Faruqui, Zonal Commissioner, Central Zone GHMC along with Pragya Nagori and Mridu Nagori and other members of Junior Jaycee along with 160 school students of Sri Saraswathi High School and a few kids from the local vicinity.
Speaking to The Hans India here on Sunday, Pragya Nagori, Chairperson, Junior Jaycee, Hyderabad said, "We all know how much plastic everyone consumes every day major part of that is plastic bottles which we see lying on the road almost every day.
We have been taught in schools to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle seeing the plastic bottles lying around me and my sister were interested in arts and craft since seventh grade and have been making crafts decors at our house or in our apartments. We found the idea of eco-bricks from the internet and that's when we decided to go with it."
Musharraf Ali Faruqui, Zonal Commissioner, Central Zone GHMC said, "The team of Oorja the Youth Energy had taken a serious step towards the motto reuse, reduce and recycling of plastic, by making eco-bricks.
They have been working on cleaning the park since last month with the help of our workers and this sends a positive message and optimistic vibes around the city that future of Hyderabad in the hands of our youth. Everybody should take active participation and I would love to see more such youth-oriented awareness programmes around the city in the coming days."
The members of Junior Jaycee also enacted a street play for everyone where they shared a message to reduce, reuse and recycle plastic and to avoid single use of plastic and how it can be used in making eco-bricks.
The team's initiative 'OORJA the YOUTH ENERGY' to shares a message of clean and protect the parks and turn them into a beautiful ozone zone with trees planted and can also be a rainwater harvesting pits or shed.
They created fencing like structure around the planted saplings with the eco-bricks and cement to beautify the park and make sure it becomes an ozone zone. These trees will be named after Indian rivers and will be maintained by different groups as a daily Environmental Studies practical session for the children.
What is an eco-brick
An eco-brick is a plastic bottle packed with plastic to a set density to create a reusable building block. Eco-bricks are used to make modular furniture, garden spaces and full-scale buildings such as schools and houses.
Eco-bricks are a collaboration-powered technology that provides a zero-cost solid waste solution for individuals and is durable and stands strong. The technique has popped up organically around the world. Various simultaneous pioneers have helped it to shape the concept, methodology, techniques, and application.
