As part of the United Nations Road Safety Week and to create awareness among the citizen, a road safety awareness drive was organised by Council for Transforming India (CTI) at Paradise Junction on Sunday morning.

Secunderabad: As part of the United Nations Road Safety Week and to create awareness among the citizen, a road safety awareness drive was organised by Council for Transforming India (CTI) at Paradise Junction on Sunday morning.

CTI for the past two years has been organising this drive to create awareness among people in Hyderabad. As the commuters often disrespect traffic rules and create inconvenient to themselves and to others also.

This drive focused on various issues that include minor drivers, drunk driving, negligent &rash driving, not wearing seat belts, helmets, and using mobile while driving.

CTI volunteers and SCSC Traffic Volunteers educated the commuters about the importance of the following safety rules that included banners highlighting the same- wearing seat belts, helmets, not to use mobile while driving was displayed by volunteers and also pamphlets containing road safety measure were distributed to the commuters.

The citizens often bypass the traffic rules and consider as their right to use the road as per their whims and fancy. This drive was conducted to make them understand the concept of road safety rules. V Rohith, Convener, Council for Transforming India, said, "the commuters often cross the white line at signals, not waiting for the green light.

This often results in accidents as motorists try to zip by traffic junctions when green light shows up. Every citizen needs to get educated on road safety for the accident-free community. It is the main objective of United Nations Road Safety Week."
