Hyderabad: State BJP president N Ramachander Rao has called for a “Chalo Assembly” programme on Monday to demand immediate release of fee reimbursement dues. The call came after police denied permission for the BJP’s “Fee Bakayi-BJP Ladai” protest at Dharna Chowk and allegedly attempted to place Rao under house arrest.

However, Rao left for Delhi following a call from the BJP national leadership for a meeting scheduled on Monday.

BJP leaders on Sunday demanded immediate release of Rs 15,000 crore in pending fee reimbursement dues and announced that thousands of students, youth and party workers would march towards the Assembly at 10 am.

BJP State General Secretaries Dr N Gautham Rao, Vemula Ashok and Virender Goud, along with BJYM State president Ganesh Kunde, criticised the government and police over denial of permission.

Gautham Rao said earlier hunger strikes, protests and appeals had failed to move the government. He warned of a massive Assembly siege if permission was not restored.

Ashok termed the police decision dubious, while Goud accused the Revanth Reddy government of “Bengal-style autocratic rule”. Kunde said thousands of students would assemble outside the Assembly at 11 am to demand justice.
