Hyderabad: BJP Telangana State president N Ramchander Rao on Sunday accused Congress leaders of spreading “false information” about constitutional institutions out of fear of electoral defeats. He criticised Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s remarks describing elections as a farce and demanding their cancellation, saying such statements insult voters and democracy.

Rao alleged that Rahul Gandhi and others were attempting to undermine public trust in institutions such as the Supreme Court, the President’s Office and the Election Commission of India (ECI).

He also rejected Congress allegations over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Hyderabad, saying voter deletions were carried out only after due verification. He said submitting Form-7 did not automatically result in deletion of names and claimed no BJP Booth Level Agents had submitted such forms. Rao also accused Congress of selectively questioning EVMs and the SIR process after electoral defeats.

Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson and media in-charge N V Subhash challenged AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi to produce concrete evidence of electoral wrongdoing before the judiciary instead of making political allegations. Armor MLA Paidi Rakesh Reddy also criticised Owaisi, saying only courts, not jail superintendents, could grant bail.
