Union Home Minister Amit Shah
Hyderabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah exuded confidence that BJP would defeat Congress and come to power in Telangana. He charged that the ruling Congress government is riddled with corruption which can be only resolved by dislodging the Revanth government.
Addressing the after the BJP's "Let Us Safeguard Democracy - Let Us End Anarchism" (Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao) padayatra in Hyderabad on Monday, Shah attacked the ruling Congress government in Telangana, charging Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy with turning Telangana into an "ATM for Congress leaders in Delhi" and alleged that none of the six poll guarantees promised by the Congress party have been fulfilled.
Shah said, “Revanth Reddy ji, you have turned the entire Telangana into an ATM for the Congress leaders sitting in Delhi and put the state on sale for RR (Rahul-Revanth) tax. The people of Telangana will never forgive you for this. Rahul ji had promised six guarantees. Not even one guarantee has been fulfilled.” The Union Home Minister asked, “Can the Congress party stop the corruption taking place in Telangana and the conspiracy to sell the state? Can Owaisi stop it? Can the BRS stop it? No. Only the Bharatiya Janata Party, under the leadership of Modi ji, can stop it,” he added.
Earlier, Shah was welcomed by Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sajay Kumar, BJP state president N Ramachander Rao and other senior leaders on his arrival at Begumpet Airport. After offering puja at the Bhagyalakshmi temple in Old City, he met senior party leaders and took stock of the state's political developments at a private hotel. He also met the Telugu film stars Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan. Later, he led the Maha Padayatra accompanied by the two union ministers from the state and the MPs Etala Rajender, Dr K Laxman, DK Arunan, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Raghunandan Rao, MLAs, MLCs and other party senior leaders and party cadre and from the Babu Jagjivan Ram statue in Basheerbagh to the Moazzam Jahi (MJ) Market Cross Roads. A huge crowd has converged right there in Hyderabad. The Union Home Minister's visit has galvanised the state BJP cadre as the party intensifies its political offensive against the Congress administration in Telangana. The city police earlier put several traffic restrictions along the padayatra route.
