Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, continuing his tirade against the Centre’s alleged duplicitous role in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls under the auspices of the Election Commission of India, alleged that the names of ‘anti-BJP electors’ were being deleted using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

He also expressed his concern over the alleged removal of names of young people who criticise Modi on social media platforms.

He questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi was shielding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and alleged that the BJP had secured victories in West Bengal, Bihar, and Haryana Assembly polls through questionable vote deletions.

Addressing Telangana Congress leaders, including Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and DCC presidents, at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday before joining a march to the Supreme Court, Revanth Reddy alleged a conspiracy to disenfranchise Dalits, tribals and people from backward classes. He criticised the alleged targeting of young people and individuals who post against the BJP and the Union government on social media.

Revanth Reddy alleged that Modi, Amit Shah and Gyanesh Kumar had conspired to steal votes under the guise of the SIR. The Chief Minister said that SIR was once used to enrol voters, but the present government at Centre was using SIR to delete the names of electors. Revanth Reddy cited voter figures of 81 crore in 2014, 91 crore in 2019, and 97 crore in 2023. Questioning the alleged deletion of 13 crore votes, he asked how the number of voters could decrease while the population continued to rise. He sought clarity on the country’s current population and demanded accountability for the alleged deletions.

Revanth Reddy questioned why the President and the Chief Justice of India were not raising the issue with Modi. He accused the BJP of creating two categories of citizens: those who retain their voting rights and those who lose them.

The Chief Minister expressed his concern that losing voting rights could also undermine the ability of poor people to demand government support and welfare benefits. He alleged that the BJP had benefited from such dubious revisions of electoral rolls in states such as West Bengal, Bihar, and Maharashtra, where he claimed the SIR process had been manipulated. He accused the BJP of fuelling conflicts along religious and regional lines.

Revanth Reddy questioned why no action was being taken against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He asked why Modi and Amit Shah were not responding to demands for Kumar’s removal if they believed there was no conspiracy behind his appointment.

The Chief Minister pointed out that the Chief Justice of India had been excluded from the process of selecting the Chief Election Commissioner.

The Chief Minister demanded complete transparency in the electoral roll revision process and called for safeguards to ensure that no eligible elector was removed from the rolls.

Revanth Reddy, along with Telangana Ministers and Congress leaders, participated in an INDIA bloc protest on Monday in Delhi, where he addressed the gathering and reiterated the demand for transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
