Hyderabad: The Union Government accorded approvals to the pending Telangana projects. The National Apex Committee (NAC) of the Urban Challenge Fund under the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHU) approved five urban infrastructure projects from Telangana, with a combined cost of Rs 3,892.38 crore under UCF. Central assistance of Rs 873.49 crore has been approved for these projects.

The new project Godavari Drinking Water Supply, Phase II & III was also approved. Package II carries Godavari water from Ghanpur to the Osmansagar and Himayatsagar reservoirs. It lays about 120 km of large-diameter transmission mains and builds two water treatment plants of 120 MLD and 70 MLD, with 102.5 ML of storage.

The project is already grounded, and the HUDCO loan for the state share has reached financial closure. Together with Package I, the 20 TMC augmentation will meet drinking-water needs up to 2035 for about 174 lakh people across the 2,053 sq. km Core Urban Region. This includes the 27 ULBs recently merged around the Outer Ring Road.

Under the storm water drainage, Greater Warangal project, the plan builds RCC and earthen storm water drains with sponge-city and nature-based features. It also rejuvenates and strengthens the bunds of 10 major tanks, builds a nalla-crossing culvert, and installs flow control and SCADA on the water bodies. It covers 407.70 sq. km and is designed to eliminate 24 chronic flood points.

The Warangal Fort Moat would restore the Kakatiya-era moat on its historic alignment, with bridges at road crossings, promenades, viewing decks and landscaping. The revived moat will also hold storm runoff that now floods the city, linking heritage conservation with flood resilience. It will strengthen the Warangal Fort–Ramappa tourism circuit.

Hanumakonda CBD project would cover the development of an integrated bus terminal-cum-commercial complex, multi-level car parks at the old municipal office and near Bhadrakali Temple, both on PPP, Madaveedhulu around Bhadrakali Temple, parking and landscape works at the Thousand Pillar Temple and a redeveloped Central Plaza at the old bus stand siteAlampur Temple Town project would upgrade the access road and build parking and visitor facilities with a crafts village. It also adds a sponge park along the fort wall, refurbishes the Pushkara Ghat, and creates a 300 m pedestrian heritage corridor and new temple-entrance areas. It is Telangana's first project approved with support under the Credit Repayment Guarantee Sub-Scheme (CRGSS) for ULBs below one lakh population.
