Congress MP highlights representation to BC, SC, ST and minority communities

TPCC Disciplinary Action Committee Chairman Mallu Ravi
Hyderabad: Congress MP and Disciplinary Committee Chairman Mallu Ravi highlighted the representation given to different social groups in the allocation of MLC and Rajya Sabha seats after A Revanth Reddy became the Chief Minister.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday, Ravi said not a single MLC seat had been given to the Reddy community on either occasion when seats under the MLA quota were filled.
He pointed out that two vacancies under the Governor’s quota were filled with minority leader Mohammed Azharuddin and Telangana movement leader Prof M Kodandaram.
Similarly, Anil Kumar Yadav was given a Rajya Sabha seat, he said.
Ravi said Revanth Reddy had recognised the growing importance of the Gen-Z demographic much earlier and had accordingly provided opportunities to young leaders such as Balmuri Venkat and Anil Kumar Yadav.
He said the latest opportunity had been given to Gen-Z leader Sama Rammohan Reddy as a Graduate MLC candidate.
Ravi said the two Graduate MLC seats would have to be won through hard work, while the Chief Minister had ensured representation to BC leaders through the MLA quota without a contest. After Revanth Reddy assumed office as Chief Minister, two MLC seats that fell vacant under the MLA quota were allocated to Mahesh Kumar Goud and Balmuri Venkat, he said.
In the second round of MLA-quota MLC nominations, the party gave seats to Addanki Dayakar from the SC community, Shankar Naik under the ST quota and Vijayashanti from the BC community, Ravi said.
