Congress women MLAs complain to State Women’s Commission against BRS leaders

Hyderabad: Congress women MLAs on Tuesday lodged a complaint with the Telangana State Women’s Commission seeking action against BRS leaders over their alleged derogatory remarks against Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar and alleged misconduct towards women police personnel during the recent incident on the Assembly premises. Meanwhile, Warangal MP Dr Kadiyam Kavya lodged a complaint with the National Commission for Women (NCW), urging the Commission to take action over the alleged misconduct with female police personnel.
Kadiyam Kavya said the alleged behaviour of BRS leaders undermined the dignity and self-respect of women police officers deployed on duty. She questioned whether female police personnel should be targeted in the name of political protest and described such alleged misconduct as “atrocious” and unacceptable.
She urged the NCW to take suo motu cognizance of the incident and conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the conduct of the BRS leaders concerned. She also called for the public representatives involved to be summoned before the Commission and for strict safeguards to be put in place to ensure the dignity and safety of women personnel on duty. “Public representatives must conduct themselves with decorum. Misbehaviour towards female police officers in the name of protest is inappropriate and must not be tolerated,” she said.
On the other hand, Telangana Pradesh Mahila Congress demanded the immediate dismissal of BRS MLC Thatha Madhu over his alleged insulting remarks against Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. Led by president Errabelli Swarna, Congress women leaders and activists staged a protest at the Dr BR Ambedkar statue at Lower Tank Bund and burnt an effigy of Madhu. They demanded his removal from the BRS and MLC post and a public apology.
