Hyderabad: The Election Commission is yet to take a decision on 18.12 lakh electors out of over 92.23 lakh voters served notices; while 74.62 lakh voters have been found eligible for inclusion in the final electoral rolls.

According to officials, the Office of the CEO generated as many as 92,88,187 notices and delivered 92,23,486 notices. The officials said that notices could not be delivered to about 64,701 voters. The Commission took up a total of 82,11,205 hearings. As many as 74,62,851 electors were found eligible for inclusion in the final electoral roll.

The official said that 12,969 electors were found ineligible for inclusion in the voters’ list and the Commission could not take a decision with respect to 18,12,367 voters.

According to a senior official, as per the schedule released by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the period for disposal of notices, claims, and objections is November 5, 2026 and the balance notices mentioned as decisions yet to be taken will be decided before that time.

The official said that the majority of the electors will see their name included in the final voters’ list. The official said that instructions were issued to the EROs not to create inconvenience to the voters while resolving issues.

The official said that the period of disposal of notices, claims, and objections started on August 17 and ended on October 7, the Commission will be resolving the issues as they had time till November 5. They were hopeful of disposing of the majority of the notices in time and expressed confidence that almost all the voters will be enrolled in the final voters list, which will be published on November 9.

A day before, the Election Commission had stated that it had deleted over 12,000 votes as per the Form 7 applications received in the entire Telangana state and that the majority of them were deleted in Hyderabad district.

While 24,323 applications were received in the state, 12,204 votes were deleted from the electoral rolls. In Hyderabad District as many as 6,335 applications were received under Form 7 and 2,066 votes were deleted.
