Evolution of Indo-Persian in the Deccan at Salar Jung museum, Lecture Hall
Dr TN Devare’s book titled, 'A Short History of Persian Literature at the Bahamani, the Adil Shahi and the Qutb Shahi Courts-Deccan’will be released at the Salar Jung museum, Hyderabad.
Dr TN Devare's book titled, 'A Short History of Persian Literature at the Bahamani, the Adil Shahi and the Qutb Shahi Courts-Deccan'will be released at the Salar Jung museum, Hyderabad.
The book is a reprint of the original publication brought out in 1961. The book has been recognised over the years as a seminal and pioneering work on the evolution of Indo-Persian in the Deccan.
The book was the first study based on the original Persian manuscripts and literary sources and brings out the influence of the multi-religious and multi-lingual traditions of the Deccan on Indo-Persian. The book also makes the case for a collaboration between Persian and the regional languages of India.
The book will be discussed by AK Goel (historian and IAS, retd.), professor Aziz Bano, Head of Department, Persian, MANUU, Dr Salma Farooqi, Deccan Studies Centre, MANUU and will be chaired by SripadBhalerao, (IAS, retd.)
