Hyderabad: Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy clarified on Sunday that he felicitated Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy with a shawl during a public meeting in Nakrekal on September 5 only after receiving a firm assurance regarding the completion of the Dindi lift irrigation project.
Refuting claims that the gesture was aimed at securing a cabinet berth, Rajgopal Reddy stated that blaming him for seeking ministerial favours was incorrect. He emphasized that cabinet appointments lie solely with the Congress party high command rather than the Chief Minister.
Speaking to media persons, the lawmaker highlighted that the Munugode constituency had turned into a desert due to severe irrigation shortages. He criticized the previous BRS administration for neglecting the Shivanna Gudem reservoir and leaving major project works incomplete.
Rajgopal Reddy noted that he formally appealed to the Chief Minister to expedite the long-pending Dindi project to restore agricultural water supply to suffering local farmers.
The clarification comes in the backdrop of widespread political speculation that Rajgopal Reddy's prominent participation in the Nakrekal public rally signaled an imminent cabinet induction. Reiterating his commitment to regional development, the Munugode legislator stressed that securing irrigation infrastructure for his drought-prone constituency remains his primary objective rather than pursuing political positions.
