Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner, M Dana Kishore instructed officials to repair the potholes while inspecting the internal roads in city which were damaged due to the incessant rains for the past five days.

Dana Kishore held a meeting with zonal and deputy commissioners on the issues like road repair works, Haritha Haram and lane marking on roads through video conference at GHMC head office here on Monday.

Speaking to the additional commissioners and chief engineers in video conference, Dana Kishore said around 75 per cent potholes have been filled out of 4,000 potholes that were identified by the authorities in two days. He instructed the officials to inspect the internal roads as well along with the main roads.

The roads on flyovers also turned to bad condition due to the rains that lashed the city recently, so even these need to be repaired as well, he said. "We have completed 49.90 lane kilo meters lane marking, zebra crossings and stop line painting on roads. This has been done with a budget of Rs 2.60 crore, he said.

The Commissioner said that as the city was receiving good rains in the last five days, plant large scale of saplings across the city and distribute the saplings to the residents free of cost. Around 5 lakh saplings were planted in government and in vacant places in government offices, he said. This week we have to conduct the programmes to plant the saplings in 616 vacant places across the city, he added.

GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and GHMC Commissioner will be participating in a large-scale planting event on Tuesday at the Delhi Public School campus at Nacharam. The event begins at 9 am and around 5,000 students will be planting the saplings.
