Glendale wins BBK football tourney
Glendale football team defeated that of Oakridge, Bachupally, in the finals held on November 6 and emerged the winners of the BBK Memorial Football Tournament. The event was hosted at Glendale Academy on November 5-6, with the knockout matches on the first day and semifinals and finals on the second day.
Hyderabad: Glendale football team defeated that of Oakridge, Bachupally, in the finals held on November 6 and emerged the winners of the BBK Memorial Football Tournament. The event was hosted at Glendale Academy on November 5-6, with the knockout matches on the first day and semifinals and finals on the second day.
There were 14 schools that participated in the football tournament and this was the second time in a row that Glendale won the tournament. The BBK Memorial Tournament was initiated in 2013 in memory of its founder Basheeruddin Babukhan, who was an avid football player himself. Glendale football team has won CBSE Clusters and made it to the Nationals twice in row.
Coaches Mirza Raheem Baig and Arun Kumar received all-round acclaim for the team feat. Meanwhile, Glendale basketball team also emerged runners-up in both boys and girls categories in the BBK Memorial Basketball Tournament. Boys team competed against Chirec in the finals and girls team humbled the Obul Reddy School team.
