Hyderabad: Telangana said goodbye to the decades old Dial 100, 101, 108 for emergency services. These are now integrated under a single number Dial 112, as part of the next generation emergency response support system, providing access to 18 emergency services under one umbrella with the slogan "One Nation, One Emergency Number."

The new platform integrates police, fire services, ambulance, women’s safety, child protection, disaster response and other emergency services through the single emergency number 112.

The upgraded platform was inaugurated by Director General of Police CV Anand at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGiCCC) in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Speaking after inauguration, the DGP said the launch of the NextGen Dial-112 platform marked a major milestone in Telangana's efforts towards technology-driven policing and citizen-centric emergency response.

He said Dial 112 serves as the first point of contact for citizens during emergencies and that the efficiency, speed and professionalism with which every call is handled directly influence public confidence in the police and other emergency services.

According to officials, Dial 112 is an AI-enabled integrated emergency response platform aimed at delivering faster, smarter and more coordinated assistance to citizens across the state.

The AI-powered system comes with several advanced features, including intelligent filtering of duplicate and non-emergency calls, AI-based prioritisation of incidents, smart call routing, AI-assisted dispatch of field personnel, voice-to-text transcription, advanced caller location tracking using location-based services, advanced location services and Google Maps, real-time dashboards and a single-window interface for call takers and dispatchers.

At present, Telangana records an average emergency response time of approximately six minutes in urban areas, 15 minutes in rural areas, and 10 minutes 30 seconds across the state.

According to CV Anand, the average call-taking time in the state has come down from 100 seconds to 69 seconds, while dispatcher time has reduced from 90 seconds to 64 seconds. Overall, the call centre processing time has decreased from 190 seconds to 133 seconds, an improvement of nearly 30 per cent. DGP further said the Dial 112 centre functions round the clock with 164 trained personnel and 900 SIP-based communication channels. Every day, nearly 14 lakh calls reach the interactive voice response system, around 18,000 emergency calls are answered by call takers and nearly 7,500 incidents are dispatched to field teams. An advanced filtering system removes unintended, spam, blank and silent calls, reducing unnecessary workload and improving efficiency.

A total of 1,860 patrol vehicles, including 788 four-wheelers and 1,072 two-wheelers, have been digitally integrated with the platform across 31 police units in Telangana. The system automatically identifies and dispatches the nearest available patrol vehicle, helping emergency teams reach the scene quickly.
