The Balanagar Special Operations Team (SOT) police arrested five persons for smuggling 47 kg of ganja. The arrested were later handed over to Medchal police for further investigation.
The arrested were identified as Gangaram (38), Rajendra Seetharam (21), Sakaram Vasantha Jadav (25), Shashikanth Raju Rathod (27) of Maharashtra, Ravi Nagappa (25) and Prabhas from Visakhapatnam.
According to the Medchal police, the Balanagar SOT police raided two cars on service road near Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Kandlakoya on September 26. The cars were travelling to Maharashtra to transport ganja via Medchal.
The police said that Ravi Nagappa and Prabhas procured the ganja which is being transported in two cars to Maharashtra.
