Hyderabad: The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential drugs (TG SAFE) officials consisting of Food Safety Officers and the police on Wednesday conducted a special drive on various food establishments such as restaurants, bakeries, sweet shops, hostels and found violations.
In a statement, TG SAFE Commissioner Avinash Mohanty said that they conducted raids on the Daadus Mithai Vatika, Gummadi Foods, Paradise Food Court, KS Bakers, Chaitanya Food Court, Godavari Mithai, Manikanta’s Live Space Luxury Women’s Hostel, Lakshmi Vengamamba Hostel, Padmavathi Delux Mess, Sri Balaji Luxury Men’s PG Hostel, KS Men’s PG Hostel, GVK New Luxury PG Men’s Hostel, Hotel Sitara Grand, Mehfil Restaurant, Sri Kanya Comfort Restaurant, Bake Max Foods Pvt Ltd (Brown Bear manufacturing Unit), Mandi Kind Arabian Restaurant, Kukatpally Mandi, Bhulakshmi Mess and Sri Harsha Delux Mess.
During the inspection, the TG SAFE officials found violations such as usage of contaminated meat and vegetables, which have been discarded on the spot. Cockroach, housefly and rodent infestation, unhygienic premises, violations in maintenance of records, refrigerators being maintained in unclean conditions without proper segregation between veg and non vegetarian foods and labelling of foods and expired food articles and food articles with pest infestation.
"The officials 20 samples have been lifted on suspicion of adulteration. GVK New Luxury PG Men’s Hostel found to be operating without FSSAI License/Registration and in violation of Food Safety norms was closed.
Improvement notices will be issued to Sri Mahalaxmi Kendra at Gummadi Foods, KS Bakers, Lakshmi Vengamamba Hostel, Padmavathi Delux Mess, Mehfil Restaurant and Sree Harsha Delux Mess for rectification of the lapses identified during the inspection.
