Hyderabad: HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath directed officials to focus not only on the restoration of Thammidikunta in Kothaguda and Sunnam Cheruvu in Borabanda, but also on developing and beautifying their surrounding areas.
On Tuesday, Ranganath inspected both lakes and reviewed the ongoing development works. He expressed satisfaction over the complete removal of silt and the increased depth of the lakes, and instructed officials to expedite works planned around the water bodies.
The Commissioner directed officials to install strong fencing around the lakes, develop pathways along their perimeters and increase greenery in the surrounding areas. The review comes ahead of the proposed inauguration of the two lakes by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy during the Dasara festival.
At Sunnam Cheruvu, Ranganath instructed officials to immediately complete the construction of a culvert and road near the inlet canal. He also directed them to improve access roads leading to the lake from Gayatrinagar and Borabanda. “Along with developing the lake, its surroundings should also be made attractive and visitor-friendly,” said Ranganath.
Local residents, who met the Commissioner, appreciated the transformation of lakes, saying that the lakes have undergone significant changes compared with its earlier condition. They observed that the area would become even more attractive once the lake is filled to its full capacity.
Residents also appreciated HYDRAA’s efforts in overcoming various obstacles and restoring the lake. Several people also welcomed the development of Thammidikunta following the removal of the Convention structure.
Ranganath and CMC Commissioner Srujana reviewed the remaining development works to be undertaken around both lakes ahead of their planned inauguration.
