IPS probationers being trained to handle Gen Z
Hyderabad: Officials of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (NPA) have begun training IPS probationers specially in dealing with situations involving Gen Z in India.
At least eight IPS probationers were allotted to Andhra Pradesh while two IPS trainees were allocated to Telangana. One Andhra Pradesh home cadre IPS trainee was allocated to Tamil Nadu and four Telangana natives were allocated to Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
Interestingly, the IPS trainees, who underwent training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVP NPA), were trained in dealing with Gen Z activities and those related to Left Wing Extremism, which was claimed to have been “finished” following the launch of Operation Kagar.
Ganesna Bhanusri Lakshmi Annapurna Pratyusha, an IPS probationer, native of Bhimavaram in Andhra Pradesh, said that she had cracked the UPSC securing 198th rank while she was on probation as deputy collector in Andhra Pradesh. Her father is a teacher at a government school in Undi, while her mother is a homemaker.
Being a single daughter to their parents, Bhanusri aimed at cracking UPSC and started preparing for the competitive exams during her graduation. She explained that NPA officers trained them to deal with situations like the Gen Z protests that took place at New Delhi and other places in recent days. Apart from it, the training also made her strong in dealing with law and order, women safety, and other issues.
Similarly, N Chetana Reddy, native of Hyderabad, stated that she was trained on how to handle situations involving Gen Z activities by participating in simulated mob management held at the NPA. “We also trained in dealing with social media, cybercrime, including bringing new reforms in the police department for making citizens safe and secure,” she said. Chetana Reddy did her schooling in Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan school in Jubilee Hills and graduated in BITS Pilani, Hyderabad.
Another IPS trainee Chakka Snehith, native of Pithapuram of Andhra Pradesh, said that he secured 94th rank in UPSC. Snehith said that his mother has been his inspiration. His mother is now serving as Additional District Magistrate in Gudivada, Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. Snehith stated that the NPA provided a basic training in combating Gen Z-induced situations, apart from cybercrime, investigations of cases, and social media wings.
Another IPS trainee, Chowhan Rajkumar, native of Mannur village of Gudihatnur mandal in Adilabad district, who had secured 703rd rank in UPSC, was allocated to the Rajasthan cadre.
